We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you all – friends, families, supporters and donors – for your overwhelming response after the violent unrest in KZN.
We felt your love in abundance in the way you reached out. You gave us hope when we thought all was lost and didn’t know how we would get through the week.
While Kwa-Zulu Natal and many parts of South Africa came to an abrupt halt, we are grateful to God that our beloved residents were unharmed, healthy and safe within the confines of our 9 acre property which they call Home. Warnings on social media impacted on the number of staff members who arrived at work on that dreadful Monday morning, the 12th of July 2021. This meant that we had to function on a skeleton staff. However, thanks to overwhelming community support, and dedicated staff who managed to get to work, we were able to feed our residents adequately and keep them safe from the violence unfolding outside our front gates.
Afterwards, the Social Workers at KZNCA heard how appreciative and grateful our people were for their uninterrupted meals, and the additional treats that they received as “comfort food”. Even though they knew of the unrest, they were reassured, knowing that they were safe and secure within their Home.
On behalf of the elders, management and staff, thank you sincerely. We are humbled by the kindness and love we share as a community and as a country.
